What I Wish Someone Had Told Me About Life After 45 .. The guide I needed when I didn’t know where to turn
Feeling off .. but not sure why?
I thought I was just tired.
Then I thought maybe I was just stressed.
Then I wondered if I was actually losing my mind.
Sound familiar?
If you’re in your late 40s or early 50s and suddenly finding yourself more anxious, forgetful, wired-but-tired, or just .. not yourself, you’re not alone. AND you’re definitely not broken.
But here’s the kicker: most of us never got the memo that this .. this blurry, uncomfortable, what-the-hell-is-happening phase .. is actually part of the menopause transition. It’s not all about hot flushes and periods stopping. It’s physical, emotional, hormonal, and deeply personal.
So I wrote the memo.
Why didn’t anyone talk about this?
It blows my mind how little most of us were told about this phase of life. Our mothers didn’t talk about it much .. maybe because no one told them either. Or because they were too busy just getting through it.
So we carry on, pushing through the fatigue, snapping at our partners, quietly Googling “why do I feel ragey during perimenopause” at 3am .. and wondering if this is just part of getting older.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
What’s common isn’t always normal
One of the biggest things I wish I’d known?
Just because something is common, doesn’t mean it’s normal (or something you have to just put up with).
💬 Struggling to sleep?
💬 Gaining weight even though nothing’s changed?
💬 Feeling flat, wired, or weepy for no clear reason?
💬 Forgetting what you were about to say mid-sentence?
These are incredibly common symptoms .. but they’re signs your body is asking for support, not just “your age showing.”
When you understand what’s going on with your hormones and nervous system, you can take small, meaningful steps to feel better. And you don’t have to do it all alone.
3 Things I Wish I’d Known Sooner
There’s a whole lot in my guide (What You Wish Your Mam Had Told You About Menopause), but here’s a little preview:
💡 You’re not being dramatic .. your brain is actually rewiring itself.
Oestrogen plays a huge role in mood, focus, and memory. When levels drop, it’s not just “brain fog” .. it’s real, and there are ways to support it.
💡 Nutrition matters .. but not in the way the diet world told you.
This isn’t about weight loss. It’s about fuelling your energy, balancing blood sugar, and supporting your hormones so you don’t crash by 3pm or lie awake at 3am.
💡 Rest is not a luxury .. it’s a strategy.
When your nervous system is overloaded, your symptoms ramp up. Rest, rhythm, and recovery are just as powerful as what’s on your plate.
You don’t have to figure this all out on your own
